Gilfach Goch memories
Can Anyone Help?
Does anyone know the whereabouts of a Melvyn Winters, he was/is from Gilfach Goch and in the 1960s he had a relationship with Rita Sparkes resulting in a daughter.
We would love it if anyone knew of his whereabouts as his daughter Wendy would love him to get in touch!
The only other information we have is his father's name was William Winters and he had a younger sister and 3 older brothers.
If anyone has any information please email jamiedjuk@yahoo.co.uk
Once again thanks for any assistance.

Father in-law
Hi there. My father-in-law was born in Gilfach Goch but left when he was a child. It was not long ago me and my husband took him back and he was quite shocked to see how much the place has changed.
The address he used to live at is no longer there, not even a road. Anyway before we left Mr Raymond Cook (my father-in-law) wanted to know what Gilfach Goch is in English as he cannot remember. Please help. Thanks.

The Pavillion, The Welfare Park
The pavillion burned down some years ago, can't exactly remember when. I seem to recall it was vandalism.

there is a white bridge in Glyn Ogwr but there was also one in Gilfach. It stretched from the bottom of the tip in Evanstown and straddled the river and came out on a path to High St,quite near to the police station. It also crossed the railway line from the Brittanic colliery

Extracts From Gilfach Goch & Mid Glamorgan books
Another glimpse of the region's industrial heritage. Note the extensive mine-workings and the railway trucks in the foreground.
