Hell And High Water! A memory of Cowes, Isle of Wight I worked in my Aunts ladies wear shop (Kays), and remember being flodded when heavy rain combined with high tide caused the shop to have water running through from back to the front with my friend Maureen and myself sweeping the ensuing water out of the front door. Change Of Use. A memory of Cowes, Isle of Wight The building on the left became an amusement arcade in the early 1950s and then a dental surgery. Going To School A memory of East Cowes, Isle of Wight I have lived in Australia now for over 40 years. I still have very fond memories of my walk from Grenville Close to West Cowes High school as a 13yr old. The floating bridge was where I had my first smoke and my first kiss!!!! Captain Macpherson A memory of Shalfleet, Isle of Wight My late mother told me that she was related to Miss White, daughter of the Rev. Richard Walton White. His daughter left the manor and or land to Captain Macpherson in 1911. Although we have no claims on this family, we have no first names of Miss White or Captain Macpherson's nephew for our family tree. Any historical history and or photographs would be great.
