Visiting Friends

I remember so well visiting Bangor-Is-Coed Village with my parents as a young girl. My parents had good friends who lived in the village. They met these friends on holiday in Chesterfield the year 1953. We kept in touch with them for a number of years, they eventually married and moved to live in Nantwich, so many happy memories.

My childhood

I lived in Erbistock till the age of 20, that was in 1981 when I emigrated to Australia. My mum still lives there, my dad passed away a couple of years ago, he was born in Erbistock and lived down Groves Lane for nearly 70 years. I remember the peace and quiet, the harvest times driving the tractor and helping milk the cows. My grandmother lived in the council houses, where my uncle still resides.
I use to attend Erbistock primary school until it closed. I remember the two classrooms and the outside toilets. I remember always looking forward to the yearly fairs and helping my nan to find the best rose in her garden to display and hopefully win a ...read more here

ERBISTOCK

I WAS BORN AND BROUGHT UP TO THE AGE OF 12 IN ERBISTOCK AND I LOVED IT.  THE BOAT INN WAS RUN BY THE WILLIAMS'S.   I PLAYED WITH CAROL AND TIMOTHY IN ALL THE OUTBUILDINGS.  I WENT TO SUNDAY SCHOOL IN THE CHURCH AND THERE WAS A LADY CALLED MRS ASPREY THAT LIVED IN A LITTLE COTTAGE BY THE RIVER NEXT TO THE CROSS FOXES.  SHE KEPT PEKINESE DOGS WHICH YOU COULD HEAR FROM THE ROAD BUT NEVER SEE.  I CAN REMEMBER ONE HOT DAY SEEING MY BEST SANDALS FLOAT DOWN THE RIVER FROM WHERE WE WERE PLAYING BY THE OLD MILL.  OUR SCHOOL HAD TWO CLASSES, MRS PARRY AND MISS BOWEN. I was born in Ruabon in 1935 at No1 Church Walks, obviously near the church.
I lived there until I left for University in 1953 and later moved to Gresford.
